All prices are quoted in U.S. dollars and are for single rooms for groups of three or more. The government surcharge applies to individuals and couples. A discount is available for sharing rooms, and private rooms can sometimes not be obtained at all locations at all times. Those traveling as
individuals or as a group of two are subject to a governmental surcharge of $50 per person per day. The surcharge is the same for all tours, whether cultural tours, trekking itineraries, bicycling, or even bird watching.

Excluded from my cost estimates are:

• International ticketing
• Druk Air airfare, extra charges, and Paro Airport tax
• Tourism Development Fund (U.S. $10 per visit)
• Visa Fees (U.S. $20 for two weeks)
• Excess baggage
• Personal expenses (laundry, room service, phone calls, bar bills, etc.)
• Medical, evacuation and trip cancellation insurance
• Other expenses not typically covered by tourist services
