Bhutan Trek Sample Itinerary

SAMTENGANG TREK

This is a great hike for seeing lots of different kinds of flora and fauna with some fine views of the mountains as a bonus.

February to May, September through December
10 days/4 days moderately difficult trekking
U.S. $2200 per person in groups of 3 or more, private rooms

Day 1: Arrive at Paro, clear immigration and customs, I will meet as you exit the airport, and take you to the hotel. hotel. Orientation. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan and Paro Dzong. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Paro valley sightseeing. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Drive to Punakha. After lunch, sightseeing of the Punakha and Wangdi valleys. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Trek begins with a 12 km forest walk between Punakha to Limukha.

Day 5: The 14 km trail between Limukha to Chungsakha passes through rhododendron and oak forests.

Day 6: Chungsakha to Samtengang.

Day 7: The trek ends after we reach Wangdi where we have lunch. Afternoon drive to Thimphu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Sightseeing of the Thimphu valley. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Excursion to Chari Monastery in the morning. In the later afternoon, after visiting the oldest dzong in Bhutan, Simtokha, we drive on to Paro. Farewell dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 10: I will take you to the airport in time to check in for your early morning departure.
